Record, Save and Rip Spotify, Pandora and Streaming Audio

A while ago, we posted a helpful tutorial How to Capture, Save, Record or Download Streaming Audio for Free. Although that is still a very relevant post in many ways, there have been some newer ways to record streaming audio that have emerged, that many of our visitors might find preferable. Being one of our more popular articles that many site visitors enjoyed, here is another way to capture or record streaming audio that works with newer apps such as Spotify or Pandora.
Spotify Home
The software that we will be using for this demo is a popular application called Replay Music, a software production of Applian Technologies. This is not a freeware program, as unlimited use costs $19.99 USD. However, the software is available as a trial download which will allow up to 25 audio records before prompting you to purchase. I recommend that no one purchase the software without first demoing the trial. This will assure that this software does what you want, prior to purchase. Of course, we do not affiliate or endorse this software.

To get started jump to the Applian downloads page and download the Replay Music demo.
Download Replay Music
The file should download fairly quickly with a high speed internet connection. Once the download has finished, proceed to install the Replay Music software to your computer the same way you’d install any other app. Once the software has been successfully installed, proceed to launch the app using the path Start > All Programs > Applian Technologies > Replay Music 5.
Replay Music 5
Click the Start Recording button within Replay Music to launch the Start Recording Session window. Here, you can enter details about the particular recording session.

Quick Note: For most applications, you may want to leave the Artist field blank and use the streaming service as a label for the Album. Because services like Spotify and Pandora use playlists of different artists, don’t enter anything too specific. Additionally, you can rip from Pandora or Spotify or other streaming music service directly to iTunes by clicking the Add tracks to iTunes option. This window doesn’t effect the actual song tagging. That, we will get to later in the tutorial.
Click the OK button to proceed.
Next, jump to the Pandora homepage.
Enter any artist, song or genre to build your customized Pandora station.
Pandora Station Builder
Once you have selected a radio station, it should automatically start playing a song.

The Replay Music software runs in collaboration with the streaming audio that you choose. So, it automatically determines when a song starts within Pandora and begins recording. Notice the Recording Time and basic level input within Music Replay:

Now, no need to stop the track or click anything from this point. The software can automatically determine when a track finishes and begins, as noted above. Once a song ends, it will automatically cut the track. Additionally, the auto tagging features in this streaming audio recorder are excellent. Without having to manually enter any details, this is how the recording was tagged:
Auto Tagged Music Software
With the software optimized for individual track recognition, you could actually leave Pandora, Spotify, etc… running along with the recording software, and Music Replay will cut and auto tag all of the songs for you. With a song being approximately 5:00 in duration, you could record approximately 288 songs in 24 hours simply by leaving Replay Music and Spotify or Pandora open on your PC.
You can access the recordings directly, using the path: C:\Users\Administrator\Music\Replay Music Recordings
From our demo, here is the recently recorded track playing as the recorded MP3 format…
Sing for the Moment
You can output the recording as MP3, WMV or other formats, and even adjust more settings using the Settings button.

Nice. Now, let’s address some additional questions that you may have regarding recording streaming audio using this app.
Will the audio format be lossless? Absolutely not. Because you are recording streaming audio from a website (Pandora) or an app (Spotify) or other streaming audio (internet), the audio will not be lossless or perfect. However, it will not be distorted or crappy, either. You should be able to get radio quality playback out of this program.
Can you mute the speakers, turn off your monitor, etc… while recording streaming audio? Absolutely. This recording method uses your computer’s sound card and other technologies to dub the audio directly. Thus, you can turn off your monitor, turn off your speakers, and even make noise or shout in the same room as the recording. This won’t effect the recording, as the software doesn’t use the computer’s mic. That is a very outdated way of recording.
Thank you for stopping by the site for today’s post. Today, we introduced a simple method to record streaming audio. Also mentioned, this post is not affiliated. Download the trial and check the software out for yourself. Many of our site visitors may find this program to be very awesome!
