Windows 7 log-on screen can be changed easily:
- Open the registry editor by command regedit.
- Go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\ LogonUI\Background
- Double-click the OEMBackground DWORD key
- Set value of the key to 1
- Select a background image for logon screen with size less than 256 KB.
- Copy that image into the C:\Windows\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds folder
- Rename the image to backgroundDefault.jpg. Reboot, and now your logon image would have changed.
Remove Send Feedback Link:
The bug that troubles in Windows 7 is the send feedback link. Following is a simple fix to get rid of this. Make sure you have a backup of the registry before you proceed.
- Click Start > Search and type regedit. Open regedit.exe as administrator.
- Look for the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control PanelDesktop
- Right-click on the white space in the pane to the right of the key hierarchy and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- As the value appears, name it FeedbackToolEnabled. Double-click the value that was created with FeedbackToolEnabled and enter 0 in the Value Data box, and then click OK.
- Log off and log on the system for the values to take effect.
Unlock the Hidden Themes:
Windows 7 has a pack of hidden and locked themes. To unlock the hidden themes:
1. Go to C:\Windows\winsxs
2. Enter “*.theme” in the search feld. You will get the Click me prompt
3. Double-click the themes ZA, US, GB, CA, AU to install them.
